THE kind-hearted team at an Ellesmere Port pub have set some extra places at the dinner table for those who would be alone this Christmas.

The Grace Arms, on Stanney Lane, held a collection so they could host a Christmas dinner in the pub.

The fundraising was so successful that there is enough turkey and trimmings for a five or six more people.

The team at the pub posted on Facebook: "At the Grace Arms we have been collecting money so we can invite anybody who is going to be alone this Christmas to come along and have Christmas dinner with us in the pub.

"Our collection has been very successful and we have raised a lot more than we thought so we would like to invite a few more to come along and join us. If you or anybody you know will be alone or struggling this Christmas please send us a message and we can sort something out.

"Merry Christmas from the Grace Arms team."

General manager Andy Beckett said the idea has started to prepare meals for a few regulars.

He said: "We had two or three regulars who didn't have family that would have been staying in on their own at Christmas. So we said come here and we'll have a community table where you can come out and have Christmas dinner."
