AN evening of Christmas carols has raised more than £7,000 for Claire House Children's Hospice.

Wirral-born journalist and BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent hosted the event at Christ Church in Port Sunlight village on Tuesday. Among the audience were families and supporters.

The event sponsored by Bradshaw Farnham & Lea featured readings from Claire House siblings, parents and young people, as well as the Vale of Clywd Singers from North Wales who joined the congregation in a host of Christmas carols to mark the festive season.

Funds raised over the festive season will allow the charity to reach out to more families as well as provide the very best care for over 300 families from across the region.

Event fundraiser Rachel Handley said: "It was wonderful to see so many people come to support their local children's hospice at such an important time of year and we're delighted Sally was able to join us.

"We're so grateful to everyone who was a part of the evening, including our sponsors Bradshaw Farnham and Lea, for making it a festive event to remember and allowing us to reach out to many more families who need our support, not just at Christmas, but throughout the year."

Claire House are hosting a carol concert in the Concert Room at St George's Hall in Liverpool a week on Monday, December 16.
