A YOUNG boy is preparing to walk from his Saighton home to Chester city centre at night as part of a Christmas mission to help the homeless.

Freddie McGowan, six, is aiming to walk a total of six miles at midnight on December 23, supported by his mum Kaili.

The Saighton Primary school pupil is hoping to raise £1,000, with all proceeds going to Chester Aid to the Homeless, and has already passed the halfway mark on his Justgiving page.

On there, Freddie said: "My mission this Christmas and my very special wish is to raise what money I can in order to help those who have no safe place to stay, no warm bed, no hot meal, no cuddles goodnight and no presents from Santa.

"I am going to be doing a midnight walk with my mummy, from my home, into Chester city centre and back again (about six miles) on Monday, December 23.

"Although its going to be way past my bedtime, very cold and probably quite scary for me, this is something that many people deal with every day...and this makes me so, so sad!

"We are all so lucky to have what we have. I would like to ask you for your help in achieving my goal and giving whatever you can spare to help the homeless in our community, not just for Christmas...for good!

"I will be taking lots of photos and videos of my journey and hope that you follow my feed throughout my mission.

"On Christmas Eve, I am hoping to deliver by hand all the money I have managed to raise to Chester Aid to the Homeless and wish everyone a very happy Christmas, and say a very special prayer for them all.

"I am Freddie, I may be six, I may be small...but I CAN make a change!"

Proud mum Kaili said: "He's very excited to do the walk.

"Freddie is extremely passionate about helping the homeless and always buys those who are homeless a hot drink or some food, with his pocket money whenever we are in town.

"Freddie's Christmas wish this year, is to ‘Make a Change’.

"We are so incredibly proud of our courageous, determined and kind-hearted little boy and we have no doubt that Freddie will achieve his goal, with conviction!

"We are hoping that the community supports Freddie in his ‘Christmas Mission’ and together we can all join Freddie's gang to ‘Make A Change’."
