A FIVE-A-SIDE football tournament in memory of a much-missed Chester teenager is to take place this Saturday (December 7).

The Carroll FC Charity Football Tournament will be held at Goals Chester in memory of Aidan Carroll, who would have been 21 years old on this date.

Aidan, who lived in Upton, sadly died after a year-long struggle with the very rare childhood cancer Ewing’s sarcoma, just days after his 17th birthday in 2015.

Mum Jenny Jones explained: "Aidan was a very popular lad at Bishops High School, always joking always smiling. He played football and rugby for local teams and managed his own team, Carroll FC, from age 13 at Goals in Chester.

"So as his mum I thought a fitting tribute to his memory on his 21st birthday would be to hold a charity football tournament.

"The charities I have chosen are very close to my heart, helping both myself, his stepdad Ian and all our family and especially Aidan's fabulous friends through the most difficult of times."

The two charities chosen to benefit from the Carroll FC five-a-side charity tournament are Claire House and Teenage Cancer Trust.

As well as the matches on the day, there will be a raffle where many of Chester's local businesses have donated prices.

They include namely Hanky Panky Pancakes, Popcorn, Suave, Blow and Skyes, who have donated the top prize of a £250 holiday voucher.

Chester FC have also donated matchday tickets.

There will also be cakes and refreshments at the tournament, which is free to attend and runs from 10.30am.
