A WIRRAL youth club has been handed £1,000 to help disadvantaged youngsters.

David Wilson Homes North West has donated the cash to Shaftesbury Youth Club in Birkenhead following the housebuilder's development at Low Hill Gardens in Upton.

The club aims to help disadvantaged young people through sports and activities.

It even has sports facilities for youngsters to enjoy.

Janice Monty, chief executive of Shaftesbury Youth Club, said: “I would like to thank David Wilson Homes for their kind donation as it is companies such as this who are helping to make a difference in the lives of local young people.”

The donation was made through the company's Our Space Your Place initiative which aims to support community projects and charities across the North West.

Lynton Dudgeon, sales director at David Wilson Homes added: “We’re really pleased we could make a donation to Shaftesbury Youth Club.

"At David Wilson Homes, we feel it’s really important to be putting back into the local community.

“Youth clubs do a tremendous amount of good for the local area and give young people the opportunity to get involved in activities that they otherwise might not have the opportunity to.

“We hope our donation can continue to bring young people in the community together and offer more prospects to those less advantaged.”
