A MAN remains in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Hoylake.

Emergency services were called at around 1.55pm on Wednesday, November 27 to the King's Gap roundabout near Market Street following reports a Vauxhall Astra had been in a collision with a pedestrian.

A man was taken to hospital where his condition is described as critical.

The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries.

Road closures were in place and people were asked to avoid the area.

Merseyrail services from West Kirby and Hoylake have resumed after the accident.
