THERE is just over a week to go until this year's Light Up A Life switch-on for Wirral Hospice St John's.

Ten thousand lights will be switched on in memory of loved ones during what promises to be emotional Globe-backed ceremony in the hospice gardens on Sunday, December 8, which starts at 5.30pm.

On the night, there will be a performance of carols by the Hospice choir.

Accompanying them will be the Lyceum Brass Band and Wirral Schools' Brass Band. Singer Sarah Chidlow will give a solo performance.

Pushing the button will be Tracie Powell, whose husband Allan passed away last year, after a brave battle with bowel cancer.

Santa Saturday

FATHER Christmas will switch on the festive tree lights during a special event at St Thomas Church in Sea View Road Liscard this Saturday.

Starting at 4pm, Santa Saturday will feature Liscard Primary School choir will be singing.

Father Christmas will arrive and all the children will get a chance to ask him for their Christmas wishes.

There will also be a gift stall, seasonal refreshments and teddy tombola.

Recycle day

A RECYCLE Day will be held at Melrose Hall in Hoylake this Saturday.

Taking place at the venue in Melrose Avenue, Hoylake, from midday until 5pm, it will feature a number of stalls selling goods made from waste and 'Save the pocket' stalls.

Admission is free. All welcome.

Lifeline panto

LIFELINE Productions' 30th anniversary pantomime Cinderella is staged at the Carlton Little Theatre in Grange Road West, Birkenhead from Thursday, December 5 to Saturday, December 7.

Performances start 7.30pm, with a 2pm matinee on Saturday.
