THE Vue cinema in Birkenhead is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

First opening in November 1999, the seven-screen cinema has seen thousands of film fans come through the doors over the years.

To mark the special occasion, the mayor and mayoress of Wirral Cllr Tony Smith and Barbara Smith joined duty manager Terri Williams at a celebration event.

Mayor of Wirral Cllr Smith said: “It was with great to take part in the 20th Anniversary celebrations of the Vue Cinema in Birkenhead this week.

"The cinema has provided hours of entertainment to many during this time and will carry on doing so in the years to come.”

Terri cut a celebratory cake with staff from the venue during the birthday, she added: "It’s incredible to mark such a significant milestone after what has been a great twenty years.

"The team and I love welcoming people to enjoy the best in big screen entertainment with us.

“We aren’t just looking to the past however, and with lots more fantastic films like Frozen 2, Knives Out and Judy & Punch coming over the next few months along with some fantastic Big Screen Events, there’s something for everyone to come and enjoy with us in our anniversary year.”
