IT'S a month to go until the big day and many Wirral residents have been getting into the festive cheer by putting up their Christmas trees.
From the unusual to traditional, the Globe put a call out to readers to send in their trees on Sunday, November 24.
Christmas trees are believed to have originated in Germany in the 16th century when Christians began to decorate trees or pyramid-shaped wood in their homes.
The idea of adding candles to branches is believed to have come from leader of the Protestant Reformation Movement Martin Luther who is said to have been inspired by the night sky in the 1500s.
In the UK, the first Christmas trees were introduced in 1790s by King George III and his German wife Charlotte.
But having a Christmas tree in your home became popular when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert had a tree set up in Windsor Castle in the 1800s - this leads many to think that they started the tradition in Britain.
Tradition suggests that Christmas trees should be put up at the beginning of Advent which is the fourth Sunday before Christmas.
However many are bucking this trend and putting up their trees earlier to celebrate the festivities.
