A WOMAN is trying to reunite what she may be a important piece of family history with its owner.

While in Chester on Saturday, November 9, which was Remembrance weekend, Valerie White found a piece of paper on the rain-soaked pavement in Northgate Street.

On one side, there was a poem that appears to be dedicated to an RAF airman killed in the war.

And on the other side, there are handwritten notes that appear to have been made by someone attempting to trace their family history. Names Matilda, Alice, William, Frank and Joseph can be made out, as well as references to Shropshire and Yorkshire.

Mrs White believes that someone may have dropped the paper while attended Remembrance services.

She said: “The handwritten notes relate to someone’s family history.

“That person will be very upset at losing this document, and the only thing I could think of was to contact the local paper in the hope of it being recognised. The original has dried out quite well and I am happy to return it to the owner, if found.”
