A FAMILY friendly festive weekend will be held at Arrowe Park Hospital later this month.

Stalls will magically appear around the main entrance of the hospital from Saturday, November 30 to Sunday, December 1 with items such as traditional sweets, candles and festive gifts all available to purchase.

Youngsters will be able to make their own cuddly bear while Father Christmas will make a special appearance on his sleigh over both days thanks to a little help from the Rotary Club of Birkenhead.

Children will then be able to meet Santa in his grotto and receive a small gift.

Organised by Wirral University Teaching Hospital and WUTH Charity, this is the first time a festive weekend has been staged at the hospital.

Victoria Burrows, head of fundraising at WUTH charity, told the Globe: “Having a bit of early Christmas joy on our doorstep will give some yuletide cheer to patients, visitors and staff.

“This festive family weekend is also about raising important funds for the WUTH Charity Tiny Stars appeal.

"Our aim is to raise £1.5 million over the next few years to refurbish the Neonatal Unit at Wirral Women and Children’s Hospital, which is based on the Arrowe Park site.

“Whether you’re visiting the hospital for an appointment, to see a loved one or if you live nearby, please do come along and show your support to Wirral’s local family hospital.”

Patients, visitors and staff will be able to join in the festive spirit with carol singing, bell ringing and other joyful activities taking place throughout the weekend.
