EVENTS encouraging people to make small, simple changes to enhance and protect their health are taking place in Runcorn and Widnes this week.

AS part of Self Care Week (November 18-24), NHS Halton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is hosting events at venues such as Runcorn Shopping City market square, Heath Business & Science Park and Widnes Market.

Lucy Reid, head of medicines management from NHS Halton Clinical Commissioning Group said: "We want to encourage everyone to think about the small, simple changes we can all make to improve our health such as getting more active, healthy eating and how to stay well this winter.

"Another simple change we can all make is considering how we utilise our local Community Pharmacist for help and advice with minor ailments such as a cough or cold.

"Your pharmacist can also advise you about keeping a well-stocked medicine cabinet and first aid kit to help treat a range of minor illnesses and injuries.

"By utilising your pharmacist for help and advice you can treat common conditions in a timely manner and avoid unnecessary trips to see your GP.”

"Self-Care Week is also a chance to shine a spotlight on the support you can get from one of our 31 pharmacies in Halton for minor ailments.

"Visit one of our events to find out more.”

  • Tuesday, November 19 from 11.30am–1pm at the Heath Business & Science Park canteen
  • Wednesday 20th November, 10am - 2pm at the Widnes Market Mental Health Hub
  • Thursday 21st November, 11.30am – 1pm at the Heath Business & Science Park canteen
