A NEW book documenting the lost places of Wirral has been released by local author Les Jones.

Lost Wirral is an illustrated guide to the borough's well known and lesser known places that have been lost over the years.

The book describes, through photographic history, the changes that the area has seen over the last 100 years with the decline of industries such as the docklands while other areas suffered destruction during World War II.

Wirral Globe:

Published by Amberley Books, Lost Wirral paints a portrait of the borough and a way of life that has radically changes or disappeared today.

Born in Wallasey, Les Jones has a keen interest in local history and has managed to collate a large collection of postcards, books and items to do with the town.
