MORE than £6,000 has been donated to a Wirral charity that helps people in need of support to secure accommodation.

The Deposit Protection Service (The DPS) has donated £6,250 to allow The Homesavers Charity to provide deposits for tenancies in affordable, privately-owned, accommodation for people who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless or on low incomes.

Kevin Burgan, trustee, at The Homesavers Charity, said: “The DPS donation will help us to support more people and families who rely upon private rented accommodation but who cannot secure a house or flat because they cannot afford the deposit.”

It will also allow the team from the charity to help clients maintain tenure and fund cold weather packs for rough sleepers.

Managing director at The DPS Matt Trevett added: “We are proud to support a charity that helps people experiencing very tough circumstances to secure accommodation.”
