WIRRAL residents will soon have running water after being without a supply for around 36 hours.

Residents in the Prenton area, with postcodes CH41, CH42, CH43 and CH63 have been without a water supply since around 8pm on Saturday, November 2.

United Utilities has been working to fix the problem throughout the weekend and confirmed today (Monday, November 4) that all tests have now been completed and more water will be put back into the network.

They are warning customers that they may still experience no water or poor pressure intermittently while the water supplies return to normal.

This is more likely to be during busy times of the morning.

There may be a change in the taste of drinking water but that will only be temporary while some customers also experience discoloured water.

United Utilities still have bottled water stations up and running from 8am at: Tranmere Rovers Football Club; Sainsbury's on Woodchurch Road and The Oval.

Kevin Fowlie, Network Delivery Director at United Utilities, said: “We’re grateful to everyone for their patience while we’ve been tackling this tricky issue.

“It has taken time for us to get the treatment works back online after the repairs were completed on Sunday.

"That’s because we had to be certain it was treating water to the high standard we expect before we put it into the supply network, and the testing process takes some time.

"The treatment works is now back up and running and we’re very sorry for the inconvenience.

"We continue to monitor the situation closely.”
