THE funeral of courageous brain tumour fighter Steve White will take place today.

Steve White, from Eccleston, had suffered from an aggressive tumour glioblastoma multiforme wild-type.

He did not realise he was living with the life limiting condition until he suffered seizures while away celebrating his 16th wedding anniversary with his wife Katheryn in 2017.

Fundraising efforts, which included Steve and friends cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats, raised more than £100,000 for him to have treatment abroad to prolong his life.

However, in the early hours of Thursday, October 3, Steve died in Willowbrook Hospice.

Stephen's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 22.

A service will be held at St Julie RC Church, on Howard's Lane, in Eccleston, at 10.30am followed by a service at St Helens Cremation at noon.

The public is welcome to attend both services and the wake at The Griffin Inn at Eccleston.

Inviting the public to all the services and thanking them for their support, Stephen's wife Katheryn said: "Thank you from the very bottom of our hearts for all the beautiful comments about Steve White.

"They are so heart warming to read. Even though I may not have replied I have read every single message and truly appreciate every single one.

"Please feel free join us both at the church and crematorium.

"We have created special memories over the years at The Griffin Inn, Eccleston, therefore all are welcome to join us in raising a glass to such an inspirational, determined, sociable, successful human being that I am beyond proud to call my husband.

"We are looking forward to hearing your fond memories of 'Whitey'."
