A suspected shoplifter hit a pedestrian with her car when fleeing a retail park.

A woman in a black Mini struck the man in his 30s as she made off from The Range car park off Fleming Way at approximately 12.20pm on October 20.

The woman drove the wrong way through the car park and exited via the entrance, also causing two pensioners to take evasive action to avoid being hit.

Officers investigating the incident arrested a woman in her 20s on suspicion of theft and dangerous driving. She has since been released under investigation while enquiries are ongoing.

PC Craig Beales said: “We understand that there were a number of people within the car park when this incident happened. It was the middle of the day on a Sunday and the shops were relatively busy.

“We’d urge anyone who saw the offending vehicle to get in touch with us immediately via 101. If you have a dash cam fitted to your vehicle, you may also have captured footage which could help our investigation so please get in touch.”
