BRIGHTON punk quartet Egyptian Blue are gearing up to perform at Birkenhead Central Library as part of Independent Venue Week.

The library has teamed up with Get It Loud In Libraries once again as part of Independent Venue Week next February at the iconic Grade II listed venue.

Joining Egyptian Blue on February 2 from 2.30pm will be Irish poet Sinead O'Brien joined with bandmates Julian Hanson and Oscar Robertson.

O'Brien performs spoken word over Art-Rock melodies to create powerful messages to encourage listeners to rise up and make a change.

Egyptian Blue released their debut EP Collateral Damage earlier this year and has been described as an 'unformidable' live act.

Cllr Julie McManus, cabinet member for community services, said: “I’m really pleased we have the chance to experience another great gig at our much-loved library, and I hope visitors old and new will come along on the day to enjoy something new.”

Previous Get It Loud In Libraries gigs at Birkenhead Library include The Orielles, Hannah Cohen, Pip Blom and Our Girl.

Tickets are priced at £9.90 each and are available via seetickets.com
