TRANMERE Rovers captain Scott Davies has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

Davies has made more than 200 appearances for the Club since his arrival in June 2015 and has played a pivotal role in helping Tranmere secure back-to-back promotions from the National League to League One.

The 32-year-old, who started both Play-Off final victories for Rovers, also won the League Two Golden Glove award last season, as he kept an impressive 21 clean sheets. Scott has recently been nominated for the 2019 League Two Player of the Year at the North West Football Awards.

The new contract sees Davies at Prenton Park until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

On signing his new contract, he said: "I'm delighted, I've had a great time, enjoyed great success and I love the club.

"I am very happy to commit my future to Tranmere Rovers and I am looking forward to the future.

"This is a family club. You only have to go out into the community to see how well the Club is supported and my family love it here too.

"I have a great rapport with the fans and it is a huge honour to sign this contract and captain this football club.

"The supporters have been first-class with me and my family since I signed."

Manager Micky Mellon added: "Scott makes sure that everybody knows what it means to be a Tranmere player and what it takes to be a successful Tranmere player, so he is certainly one that we know we can rely on to drive the standards both on and off the pitch.

"We are delighted he is staying and I’m sure that the fans will be too."
