A NEW independent Indian restaurant has opened its doors in Moreton.

Dhuma, based on Hoylake Road, opened its doors after a launch party on Thursday, October 3.

The restaurant offers a traditional Indian menu while catering for all with a selection of tasty vegan, vegetarian and gluten free dishes.

Dhuma's carefully crafted cocktail menu has been created to compliment the food menu while boasting flavoured gins and beer such as Kingfisher/Cobra and locally brewed Love Lane IPA.

The team have created an eye-catching space with a striking wall mural from local artist Danny O'Connor.

Owner Mahfuz Rahman told the Globe: "Well, we have put together a team who we really believe are destined for great things.

"Combined, we have too many years to mention in the hospitality industry!

“We are far from old - we just started out young!

"And now, from award winning restaurateurs, international chefs and highly trained, vastly experienced front of house team.

"We believe we have a special team here.”

Head chef Salami Abdul has worked at some of the UK's most prestigious restaurants in Mayfair, Notting Hill and Fulham - even spending some time working with the notorious Gordon Ramsay.

He said: "I have worked with a lot of amazing chefs all over the world.

"Just because someone is of high profile, it doesn’t mean they are better than others. I have worked in a wide range of restaurants cooking all different types of cuisines.

"My style of cooking is rather unique and the ideas that Sam has for Dhuma matched my own ambition, so we are all very excited about what is to come.”

The launch night saw all guests receive a complimentary glass of prosecco as well as gin serves from sponsors Tanqueray - tasty canapés were also provided.

Entertainment was provided by a stunning fire artist and a performance from traditional Indian dancers and drummers.
