AN 83-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Widnes.

At around 6.40am on Monday, October 7, a grey Peugeot 208 car collided with a pedestrian on Hough Green Road, near to the Arden junction.

The pedestrian, an 83-year-old woman from Widnes, was taken to hospital via an ambulance.

She sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and as part of their investigation officers want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision.

They also want to hear from anyone who believes they may have dashcam footage of the incident or any other information that may be relevant to the investigation.

Sergeant Helen Cooper, of Cheshire Constabulary's serious and complex collision investigation unit, said: "I would like to reassure members of the public that we are doing everything we can to establish how the incident occurred.

"We spoke to the driver of the car involved in the collision at the scene and other enquiries are ongoing.

"As part of our investigation we are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch.

"The same goes for anyone who was driving along Hough Green Road and believes they have dashcam footage that may aid the investigation.
