Karen Howell, chief executive, Wirral Community Health and Care Foundation Trust, writes for the Globe.

EVERYONE has a story to tell about the NHS; it touches all of our lives at some point.

So I'm hoping that if you're reading this, you might be interested in being part of it!

I'm sure all of you will have heard of parent governors in schools; volunteer parents who support the school but who also act as a critical friend, asking questions and making sure the school is heading in the right direction.

But did you know that as NHS Foundation Trust, we have governors too, performing a similar role?

NHS Foundation Trust Governors are a central part of the NHS; they represent the interests of patients, public and staff and oversee the work of the Board in running the organisation.

We're looking for five enthusiastic people to join us as Governors.

You don't need to have any specific qualifications or experience; we will ensure you get the support and training you need.

Perhaps you've received care or support from one of our services and would like to help shape how we run your Community Trust.

Maybe you used to work in healthcare and would like to still be involved. Are you retired with some free time?

Or perhaps you can spare a few days a year and are interested in doing something that looks great on your CV!

Whatever your reason, we would love to hear from you.

There's a lot more information on our website, including details of how to apply: www.wirralct.nhs.uk.

If you want to speak to one of our team to find out more, you can email us at foryouwithyou@nhs.net or call 0151 514 6342.

Please give it some thought; we need you!

If you're already one our 6,000 Trust members, you'll automatically receive a voting pack in the post or by email.

Finally a quick date for the diary: we are holding our Annual Member's meeting on Wednesday, November 13, from 5 to 6.30pm at Albert Lodge Training Suite, Victoria Central Health Centre, Wallasey.

Do come along and join us for our annual review.
