AN award-winning Wirral composer will showcase their latest musical in Heswall later this week.

Knowledge By Degrees: The Musical has been written by Greasby composer Wendy Dickinson and will take place at Heswall Hall on Saturday, October 5 as part of Wirral Arts Festival.

Wendy received Kenneth Branagh New Drama Writing Award in 2017 and won Masterclass Pitch Your Play in 2018.

The musical documents the highs and lows of four undergraduates going through their final year at the fictional University of Helmford.

Its score, full of memorable melodies with witty lyrics, catches the contemporary feel of the storyline, taking the audience on the characters’ emotional rollercoaster.

Speaking ahead of the performance, Wendy told the Globe: "It’s a dream come true to be able to perform Knowledge By Degrees in my local area.

Wirral Globe:

“I’m very grateful to the Riverside Trust and the Wirral Arts Festival for facilitating and sponsoring this project and for promoting original new theatre in Wirral.”

First premiered at King's College, London in 2012 this will be Knowledge By Degrees North West debut in the writer's hometown and is sponsored by the Riverside Trust.

Director of the Wirral Arts Festival, Valerie Warr said: “We are proud to host Wendy Dickinson’s new musical and delighted to welcome Knowledge By Degrees to Festival 2019.”

The production is being brought to the festival thanks to WhistleWhack Productions - a new local theatre company set up in Spring 2019 by Luke Dipple and Wendy Dickinson.
