A terminally-ill 10-year-old managed to speak with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Sir David Attenborough at Cammell Laird.

William Magee, from Prenton, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was just two years old.

Duchenne is a terminal disorder which is characterised by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness – symptoms usually begin during early childhood between the ages of three and five.

For Will from now and until he reaches 12-years-old he will no longer be able to walk and the rest of his muscles will deteriorate.

Heartbreakingly, William’s heart will fail and he will lose his fight against the condition.

The Globe has covered William's story for several years and today, his mum Kelly took William to Cammell Laird to witness the naming ceremony of the RRS Sir David Attenborough polar research ship on (Thursday, September 26).

What they didn't imagine when they turned up at the event is that they would get to meet the special guests of honour.

Kelly said: "What a lovely day today and some amazing memories made.

"Will and Kate were lovely and the legend that is sir David Attenborough was a true gentleman and so humble.
