A WARNING has been issued after a reports of a flare being seen in Moreton.
Emergency services were called at around 9.30pm on Wednesday, September 25 following reports of a red flare being seen in the Moreton area.
Coastguard rescue officers then searched from Meols to New Brighton.
The team at Holyhead Coastguard Operations Centre sent out a 'pan pan' message to all vessels in the area to ask for more information or any other sightings.
After carrying out a search nothing was found and all teams stood down.
In a statement, Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team said: "It is important to remember that flares are not fireworks and should only be used in a maritime distress situation.
"If you have flares that you no longer require, please dispose of them responsibly.
"Any Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service Fire Station will accept flares."
