TWO Wirral gymnasts are set to compete in Team GB at the European Championships but need your help.

Niamh McCartan, 15, and Elizabeth Hodgson, 13, from Birkenhead Gymnastics Academy, took part in three days of competitions at M&S Bank Arena for the British Gymnastics Championship Series in the Acrobatic 11 to 16 category.

The pair stunned the judges and were crowned British champions.

This also meant that the duo were selection to represent Great Britain and the European Championships being held in Israel this October.

However in order to get to Israel, the pair are now hoping to raise £3,500.

Dawn Mitchell, who is head coach at Birkenhead Gymnastics Academy, has also been selected as team manager, she said: "As Acrobatics is a self funded discipline the club is helping to raise funds to help towards the £1,750 each costs.

"We are holding fundraising events but would be grateful for any kind of donation that can help the girls achieve their dream!

"Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for the support we receive from our amazing BGA community!"
