A WOMAN is appealing for help to track down the man who she believes stole her handbag.

Tracey Goldspink was dropping her two children off at their nan’s in Lower Brook Street, King’s Furlong, when a thief took the bag from her car.

The 33-year-old said that within 10 minutes of her bag being stolen, the thief was using her back card to buy beer and other items.

“I was away from my car for a matter of moments dropping my children off, and when I went back my mother-in-law saw that my passenger door was wide open, and no one had got out of that side,” the South Ham resident told the Gazette.

“My bag was in the footwell and they must have tried their luck and taken it.

“I was so upset I was frantically running up and down the street to see if I could see anyone. My life was in that bag.”

Tracey said that the bag contained her purse, a large sum of cash, her car keys and house keys as well as other valuable items.

She said that the thief had thrown her phone into a bush and she was only able to find it thanks to the “find my iPhone app.”

However, she soon realised that her cards had been used to make small transactions at a nearby store.

She approached the store to check its CCTV and the store manager told her that a man was using multiple cards to pay for items.

She added: “The store owner told me that when he was told he needed to pay with cash he left the store and never came back.”

Now Tracey is hoping that the CCTV image will help her find the man who she believes may known where her bag is.

Police said the incident took place Saturday evening between 6.55pm and 7.05pm.
