NINE people have been arrested in raids across Wirral following investigation into gun supply.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) raided several homes across Wirral, including Birkenhead and West Kirby, following an 'intelligence led' investigation into the supply of guns.
The NCA were on scene at an address on Frankby Road, near to the Co-op, supported by Merseyside Police earlier today.
Witnesses say there was a 'sniper' spotted on the roof of a vehicle when emergency services swooped in.
A National Crime Agency spokesman said: "Nine people have been arrested today and five properties searched in Birkenhead and Wirral by the NCA and Merseyside Police as part of an intelligence led investigation into the supply of firearms.
"The arrests were part of pre-planned activity and there is no elevated risk to the public.
"While the investigation is on-going we are unable to comment further."
