A 'SUPER hero' aunt from Prenton took on a Tough Mudder charity challenge to help fund research into children's liver disease.

Chloe Salusbury was inspired to undertake the 5K, 25 obstacle course at Cholmondeley Castle for the Children's Liver Disease Foundation by six-year-old nephew Oliver, who was born with the rare liver disease, alagilles syndrome.

Her efforts raised £800 for the charity.

Chloe said: "My brave, strong, funny, loving nephew has had numerous surgeries and medications to help with his liver condition and after a hard, long wait our wishes finally came true when he received his life-saving liver transplant just six weeks ago.

"During this hard time Oliver and his parents have been utilising all of the help CLDF can provide.

"He is a real-life super-hero.

"I wanted to take on a heroic challenge which he would approve of and to give something back to a charity which we want to be there for him in the coming months and years."

Chloe, who combines her job as a dance teacher with her role as a teaching assistant and sports coach at St Michael and All Angels Primary School, is no doubt fitter than most but she was first to admit that Tough Mudder was outside her comfort zone.

She continued "I'm not a runner, I've never run more than 1.5 miles before, so it was really hard but also so much fun,” she said.

"I didn't stop laughing the whole time.

"I was dunked in ice water, stuck in the mud - it really was crazy but it was worth it and I will definitely do it again next year!"

Alison Taylor, chief executive of Children's Liver Disease Foundation commented: "CLDF is the only UK charity dedicated to fighting all childhood liver diseases, by providing information and emotional support, funds for research and a voice for all those affected.

"In order to do this however, we rely on voluntary donations, so we are delighted to hear about Chloe’s fantastic fundraising.

"I hope Oliver is impressed – we certainly are.

"The money she has raised will help children like Oliver throughout the UK."
