WE'RE called a nation of animal lovers, but we no longer deserve this title.
Virtually every week we have horrendous cases of animal cruelty in the Wirral Globe, the latest being Luna, an American bulldog that was beaten, knifed, then poisoned with anti-freeze by her owners and suffered the worst possible death.
The sentence was a pathetic ten weeks in jail.
The laws are about to change to give much harsher sentences, this cannot happen quick enough.
