TRANMERE Rovers' boss Micky Mellon has added to his team by signing lCameron Borthwick-Jackson on season-long loan from Manchester United.

The 22-year-old left-back has made 10 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils since turning professional at Old Trafford.

Most recently spending time on loan with Scunthorpe United last term, where he made 33 appearances for the Iron, Borthwick-Jackson also has experience of the Sky Bet Championship during spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United.

But after moving to the Wirral for the rest of the 2019/20 Sky Bet League One campaign, the defender adds depth to Rovers' defensive options moving forward.

On becoming part of Tranmere's line-up, Borthwick-Jackson said: "I'm delighted and I can't wait to get started.

"I think it's a case of me getting back to my best and showcasing what I can do to help Tranmere finish as high up the league table as possible.

"The manager was keen, and he wanted me.

"I'm looking forward to working with him and that’s half the battle to have a manager like that.

"He said he knows my quality and he wants me to get back enjoying my football."

Manager Micky Mellon added: "We're delighted to bring Cameron to the club.

"He will bring us quality and competition for places in an area of the team where we need it.

"Cameron is at a stage where he needs to get his career going again and we're really happy that he has agreed to do that at Tranmere Rovers."
