LARGE kite demonstrations are among the entertainment at Hoylake Lifeboat Station's Open Day this Monday (August 26).

There will also be trade stands, charity stalls, raffles, small funfair attractions and tours of the lifeboat during the free public event on Hoylake Promenade.

Hoylake Lifeboat and hovercraft will be on display and the public will be able to come aboard meet the crew and have a look around.

West Kirby Lifeboat crew will also be there with their inshore Lifeboat and Hagland tractor.

Representatives from the coastguard, Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) and other rescue services will be displaying their rescue equipment.

The boathouse will be open for the sale of souvenirs, Christmas cards, calendars and refreshments.

Event spokeswoman Carole Jackson told the Globe: "We are looking forward to welcoming the NGT (Northern Kite Group) back again this year flying their giant kites from the beach.

"We are hoping for a fine day.

"The event is free and you will see members of the crew with collection buckets along the promenade.

"We hope everyone has a great time and would only ask please do not lock pets in cars."

The event takes place from 10am to 5pm.

The promenade will be closed to traffic from 8am to 6pm.

My Fair Lady

WALLASEY-based St Paul's Musical Theatre Company's production of Lerner & Lowe's My Fair Lady will be staged in October.

Produced and directed by Brenda Davies with music direction by Sian James, the show will be staged at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton from October 24 to 26.

It features much loved songs such as On the street where you live, With a little bit of luck and I could have danced all night.

The cast features Rebecca Hulse as Eliza Dottlittle, Barry Prescott as Alfie Doolittle, David Oliver as Henry Higgins and John Phipps as Colonel Pickering.
