DETECTIVES investigating two assaults at Wirral Custody Suite have charged a man with multiple offences.
At around 7.20pm on Tuesday (August 13) a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault in Liverpool City Centre and taken to Wirral Custody Suite in Birkenhead.
While there, he assaulted a desk officer, before eventually being restrained by colleagues.
The officer received hospital treatment for serious facial injuries and is being supported by colleagues.
A second officer also received minor shoulder and facial injuries in the attack.
Arsalane Melaine, 31, of no fixed abode has now been charged with the following offences:
- Two assaults on emergency workers in the above incident
- One common assault on an emergency worker, a previous incident in which a police officer was assaulted in Liverpool City Centre
- One section 39 assault in Liverpool City Centre
- Possession of cannabis
- A section 4 public order offence
Melaine appeared at court this morning and has been remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday September 12.
