STUDENTS and staff at Queen’s Park High School are celebrating some outstanding A-level results.

Following the successes of last year, performance has continued to improve across all subject areas with students achieving well across a range of courses including some innovative new additions to the curriculum. This included the first set of results for a new A’ level course in Criminology which has achieved 100% pass rate in its first year.

Other subjects with excellent outcomes include: ICT with 50% A*-A grades, 3D Design, Performing Arts and Photography with 100% A*-C, Sports Studies with 100% Distinction and Maths with 75% A*-B.

There are many examples of individual success to celebrate.

Morgan Linfield achieved 2 A*s, 2 Bs and B at AS who now leaves us to study Physics at Newcastle University.

Eve Lawlor who has achieved 2 As and a B to achieve her ambition to study Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of Birmingham

The school looks forward to hearing about all students’ future successes.

Lyndsay Watterson, headteacher, said: “I feel very proud of this cohort of 6th Form students who have been such wonderful ambassadors for the school both within and beyond the classroom. Their results today not only enable us to celebrate the rewards of their hard work but also the individual qualities of the talented young people that they have become.

"Whilst working hard under the pressure of their exams, our 6th Form Student Leadership team were delighted to be nominated finalists for the ‘School in the Community’ Award at the recent Cheshire School Awards; in recognition of their fundraising endeavours, innovative thinking and leadership skills, demonstrated throughout the year. Our students’ talents reach far beyond the results they have received today and I know that they will be moving on, having made memories and friendships here at Queen’s Park which they will take with them through life.

"We will certainly miss them and on behalf of all the staff, I would like to wish them every success in the future – do keep in touch!”
