AS usual the residents of Hoylake have risen to the challenge and worked hard to maintain our village as a very pleasant clean and welcoming place to come.

Following the beach meeting where most attendees agreed to "spray the beach" to remove the grass and keep it as golden sands, it was commented that the promenade was also full of weeds and sand.

We were told the council were supposed to do it, but the contractor obviously had not done it well.

Residents for the last three Sundays have been on the prom clearing away the sand and weeds and also on the triangle by the old lifeboat station.

The promenade is now a credit to them.

Let us hope that it is now maintained by the contractor under the supervision of the council and we have a promenade to be proud of once again.
