THE rider and passenger of an electric pedal bike involved in a 'fail to stop' crash in Birkenhead are wanted by police.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which took place in the early hours of Monday morning.

At around 12.05am, police were called to Upton Road at its junction with Bidston Road to reports of a collision between a black electric pedal cycle and black Ford Focus, which caused the car to swerve off the road.

The driver was taken to hospital and required treatment to minor injuries to his head and arm.

The rider and passenger of the bicycle made off from the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace them.

Constable Craig Williams from The Matrix roads policing unit said: "We want to identify those on the bike as a matter of urgency, to ensure that they are safe and well and receive the appropriate medical treatment.

"If you know who was involved, please do the right thing and let us know.

"I also want to urge anyone who witnessed this incident or has home CCTV or dashcam and captured this collision to get in touch, so we can establish the circumstances and take the necessary action."
