HOLLYWOOD actor Tim Roth has been spotted filming the final series of Sky Atlantic drama Tin Star in New Brighton.

The thriller will return for a third and final season sometime in 2020 with the cast beginning filming in July 2019.

The series is based around the Worth family who will return to Liverpool after fleeing to the Canadian town of Little Big Bear 20 years previous in a bid to confront the truth they ran away from.

Promised as the 'best season yet' by Tin Star writer Rowan Joffe, it will see former Metropolitan Police detective Tim Roth (Jack Worth) confront Merseyside crime boss Michael Ryan played by Ian Hart - who is most known for playing Professor Quirrell in Harry Potter.

Cameron Roach, director of Drama at Sky, said: “We’re thrilled to be filming this final chapter of Tin Star in Liverpool.

"The impassioned performances from Tim Roth, Genevieve O’Reilly and Abigail Lawrie combined with the exciting casting of Merseyside’s own Ian Hart alongside Tanya Moodie, Joanne Whalley and Kerrie Hayes will bring to life the most intriguing and suspenseful series yet.”

The cast was seen filming in Liverpool earlier this week with the entire series set in Merseyside.

Liverpool Film Office head, Lynn Saunders, said: “We’re delighted the Sky Atlantic hit is here to film. Liverpool will provide an incredible backdrop and will be a key to the storyline.

"The versatility of the city region means that when many big-name productions head here, it can double as another location - so it’s great that viewers will be able to enjoy Liverpool City Region in all its glory.”
