A MAN who was assaulted outside a takeaway in Liscard last week has died.
Police were called to Liscard Village at 12.45am on Thursday August 1 to reports that a 53 year-old man had been assaulted outside Kebab House in Liscard Village, Wallasey.
The victim, Patrick Michael O’Quigley, was taken to hospital with head injuries.
Police confirmed this afternoon that Mr O’Quigley, also known as Michael passed away in hospital on Monday.
The 53-year-old's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by special trained officers.
A 34-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault had been further arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and has been bailed as inquiries continue.
A police spokesman said: "We are also continuing to appeal for anyone in Liscard Village in the early hours of Thursday August 1, or who believes they may have witnessed something or has any information which could assist the investigation to contact us either by DM @MerPolCC, calling 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 19100421363."
