FORECASTERS have extended the severe thunderstorms and rain warning across Wirral.
The Met Office say that thunderstorms will take place today (Tuesday, July 30) and heavy rain will arrive in Merseyside from 12am tomorrow (Wednesday, July 31).
They are warning that the heavy rainfall could lead to flooding with difficult driving conditions and road closures likely.
Commuters should expect some delays and cancellations to train and bus services.
There is also the chance of possible power cuts due to flooding or lightning.
A Met Office spokesman said: "Rain will be persistent and heavy in places across parts of central, northern and eastern England and northeast Wales at first on Wednesday.
"During the day rain may turn more showery in places but with a higher chance of thunderstorms by afternoon. Some parts of northern England could see as much as 40-60 mm of rain through Wednesday, while thunderstorms could produce as much as 30-40 mm in 1-2 hours.
"However, some places will miss the heaviest rainfall."
