I OFTEN comment on local government decisions, some of which fly in the face of public opinion and common sense.

The developers of the Saughall Massie Community Fire Station however, are, I think to be congratulated on a job [very] well done.

The buildings look well, and the new landscaping around the site is a joy.

Having walked the perimeter now that the job seems finished I walked with a smile on my face, and on around the well-thought out green paths so popular with local people.

It is to be hoped of course that the old Upton fire station site may now be developed for 'affordable' housing, instead of ruining another greenfield site in West Wirral.

Let's hope.
