CLAUGHTON schoolboy Joseph Chalmers raised £2,300 for Claire House by taking part in a charity bike ride.
The nine-year-old, a pupil at Bidston Avenue Primary School. encouraged 25 friends and family to join him for the ride from Seacombe Ferry and Leasowe Lighthouse.
Proceeds will go to the hospice's 40 for 40 appeal, marking what would have been the 40th birthday of inspiration Claire Cain.
Strawberry fair
THE annual Strawberry Fair is taking place at St James' Church, New Brighton this Saturday from 1-4pm.
Strawberry cream teas will be served throughout the afternoon. There will also be craft, accessory, pamper, book, jewellery, cake and preserve stalls available, plus raffle.

HUGH Stewart will give an illustrated talk on Bardsey Island as Wirral Bird Club's guest next Thursday, July 25.

Cake decoration
A CAKE decorating demonstration will be held at Melrose Hall in Hoylake next Friday (July 26) from 7-9pm.
Includes lots of tints and tips for anyone wanting to learn how to decorate cakes, tiered cakes, sugar flowers and cake sculpting of a childs novelty cake. All cakes made on the night will be in a raffle.
