The man was then dragged backwards by the neck and had his wallet stolen.
Detectives confirmed today (Tuesday, July 16) that they had charged a 34-year-old man with robbery.
Jason Carson, of Landsdowne Road, Birkenhead, has been remanded into custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 17.
