DETECTIVES are investigating following a serious assault in Woodchurch on Sunday.
At shortly after midnight, officers were called to Hoole Road, near to the Woodchurch pub on Grass Wood Road, to reports of fighting involving a group of people in the street.
A man in his 30s was found with a deep laceration to his face, possibly caused by a glass or bottle. He has been taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers remain at the scene this morning to carry out CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries.
Detective Inspector Paul Parry said: "This assault has left the victim with a serious facial injury, which is potentially life-changing, and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to find out exactly what happened.
"We know there were functions taking place at the pub last night and many people milling around, some of whom will know who was involved, why this happened, and where the offender is now.
āIād urge each and every one of those people to come forward to us, directly or anonymously, and we will take positive action and out those responsible for this serious violence before the courts."
