TWO mischievous meerkat pups have taken their first steps outside at Chester Zoo.

Born on May 28, the pair had been safely tucked away in their underground burrows by mum Huskie and dad Beagle.

Six weeks later and around 250 grams heavier, the duo have now began exploring the world for the first time.

Arriving after an 11-week gestation, the pups will now learn how to forage for food, groom one and other and play together under the watchful eye of mum and dad.

As the pups are too small to sex, zookeepers are yet to give the new arrivals their names.
