ROADS have reopened after a water leak in Meols.

United Utilities were on scene after a water leak on Hoylake Road yesterday (Sunday, July 7) at around 5pm.

Engineers worked through the night and finished work on the burst water main at around 5.10am today (Monday, July 8)

Road closures were in place between Heron Road and Millhouse Lane but have since been removed.

There may be temporary traffic lights around the damaged road surface.

Many residents had reported that they had little or no water supply in the lead up to the leak and the company had put in place a water tanker to pump water back into the main supply.

In a statement United Utilities said: “Our team of engineers have finished repairing the burst water main on Hoylake Road and the water should be starting to flow normally again.

”However it may take up to two hours for the water pressure to return to normal levels.

“We’re sorry if this has affected you and thank you for your patience.

“Because there has been some disturbance to the pipes in your area you may notice the water is a little cloudy or discoloured.”
