A TEENAGER charged with attempting to murder a 14-year-old Chester high school student has appeared in the dock at Chester Crown Court.
The 15-year-old schoolboy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Honorary Recorder of Chester Judge Steven Everett on Friday, July 5.
He did not enter a plea to the charges of attempted murder or to possessing a bladed article in a public place.
The charges relate to an incident which occurred on Handbridge Road just after 3pm on Thursday, June 20, in which a 14-year-old Queen's Park High School pupil received serious injuries and was taken to hospital. He was discharged after receiving treatment a few days later.
Defence solicitor Owain Edwards said they had applied for a psychiatric report in respect of the defendant.
Judge Everett agreed the case would be adjourned for the report to be obtained.
A pre-trial review will be held in September, following publication of the report, when pleas may then be put.
A provisional trial date has been scheduled for the week beginning November 25, with an estimated trial length of between five and seven days.
The 15-year-old defendant was remanded in a secure accommodation unit until his next court appearance.
