THIS is an alternative view to the letter titled Cut the grass.
I have a wide grass verge outside of my house and am pleased the council has reduced there grass cutting programme, as it is allowing the wild flowers to flourish.
From a rough local count 50% of front lawns have now been covered over to make hard standing for parking so reducing feeding for insects, birds and pollinating bees.
Interesting to see that the new managed M6 motorway from Stoke to Birmingham has had the verges planted with wildflowers - which looked a treat in May and June.
What a great idea for improving the visual environment and filtering the air we all breath, at the same time.
So let's not only think green and talk green but act green and I would support WBC in only cutting the verges at the end of the wild flowering season.
