TRANMERE Rovers striker Ishmael Miller has signed a new six-month contract with the club.

The 32-year-old had originally signed a deal with Rovers back in January and got off to a flying start, scoring on his debut in a 3-1 away win at Cheltenham.

Unfortunately, Miller suffered a hamstring injury that would keep him out for the remainder of last season.

Having only just signed for the club when he got injured, Ishmael very generously offered to not receive his agreed wages until he got back to full fitness.

After undergoing an intense rehabilitation programme, the former Premier League man has put pen to paper to keep him at the Club for a further six months.

After signing his contract, Miller said: "I'm buzzing to sign again. I got off to a good start last season so it was frustrating to get injured but I'm delighted to be back.

"I was following the lads last season when doing my rehab and I was made up when we got promoted because that's what we were all aiming for.

"The Club have been brilliant and have stuck by me so I can't wait to get going now."

After working with him last season, Micky Mellon was keen to get Ishmael signed up again.

"We all know the respect that Ishmael gave the Club and what he did so we're delighted to have him back in the group.

"We'll get him as fit as we possibly can for him to no doubt make a big impact for us this season.

"He was very unfortunate with his injury last season but you could see the impact that he made when he did play but he's ready to go again and we'll help him get back to those levels that he was hitting."
