A VIP launch night at one of Merseyside's latest food and drink market was held last week.

The £1m development, Duke Street Food & Drink Market opened its doors to press, influencers and VIPs on Thursday, June 20.

Home to six independent food businesses, a flagship restaurant, three bars and a florist, the new venue has created more than 100 jobs for Merseyside.

Throughout the VIP event, guests were treated to signature dishes from all six traders and Pilgrim while enjoying a DJ set from Andy Mc.

Co-founder of Duke Street Food and Drink Market, Matt Farrell, told the Globe: “We are so pleased with the turnout for our VIP Night and the feedback we received.

"Guests got to experience what each trader does best alongside our signature cocktails.

"It was a really special evening and one we’re not going to forget anytime soon.”

Guest were also offered the chance to explore the six most popular cocktails on the menu including: silver Mercedes; strawberry smash and rosemary bramble.

Director of Urban Food & Drink, who also co-founded the market, Alexander Bennett added: “It has taken a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get the venue to how it is today but we couldn’t be prouder of the space.

"We’ve retained the building’s industrial character and history but contrasted with a minimal, contemporary aesthetic.

"The response to Duke Street has been overwhelming and we’re just looking forward to developing phase two of the venue, which sees us expand the size further. Watch this space!”

Duke Street Market is home to 50-cover restaurant Pilgrim which appeared on BBC2 programme My Million Pound Menu earlier this year and earned investment to bring the restaurant and bar concept to life.

Other traders include Cinder, Finca, Cucina di Vincenzo, Ginger, Indigo Greens, Bone and Block.

Bone and Block specialises in a variety of meat-based dishes, using British, free-range meats from Edge and Sons Butchers in New Ferry.
