TRANMERE Rovers have signed winger Corey Blackett-Taylor on a two-year contract.

He is Micky Mellon's fifth summer signing as preparations continue for next season in Sky Bet League One.

The 21-year-old has graduated through Aston Villa's academy and has appeared twice for the Premier League outfit as well as playing at an international level for England U17s, scoring twice in four games.

He gained experience in League One last season whilst on loan at Walsall where he turned out five times for The Saddlers.

After putting pen to paper at Prenton Park, Blackett-Taylor said: "I'm really happy that it's done. I heard about the interest a week ago and now I just can't wait to get started.

"I spoke to the Gaffer and we get on really well, there is a clear understanding of what he wants me to do.

"I feel like I've got more to prove in League One.

"This is a good opportunity to showcase what I can do, and I just want to help the team and show that."

Manager Micky Mellon was over the moon to sign Corey after following his progress for a number of years.

He said: “He's a player that we've known for a while as he progressed through the ranks at Aston Villa so we're delighted to bring in such a promising talent.

"The fans will see a really honest lad who works his socks off with loads of pace and power and he has been brought up to play football, in what we consider, the right way.

"I'm looking forward to working with him and the Tranmere fans seeing what he can do."
